Stories
I've completed the character profiles; I even know what each character will be experiencing through the book. But I've hit a wall since I finished that work. I can't seem to be able to focus my mind on the actual story. I sort of know what will happen, I know most of the twists and turns (you can't possibly know them all at the beginning of a book: that would make the whole process very boring indeed), but I just can't get to that point where the story unravels itself before me and I write down the first few chapter synopsises.
Chatper One is ready to go. Synopsis written up. But I don't want to jump straight into the first chapter when I don't know where the second will take me. And then there's the chapters that will follow. Because I'm re-working a novel I've already completed it means I have a lot of material to choose from. Obviously I don't like how the original version of the book was/is (other wise I wouldn't be re-writing it) but there is still a lot in the book that I can salvage or still use as inspiration.
Over the next week I'm going to trawl through all that material, take heaps of notes and get this book ready for writing. I'm hoping to start work again at the beginning of July.
While looking through the old "Olimpia Valley" book I found another novel I'd started work on but never finished. It was tentatively titled "Virus" and I had the first three chapters completed. There is a brief synopsis of where I thought the book might go but most of it I remember from memory. I think I may have found the next novel I'm going to work on - either along side "Olimpia Valley" or once that one is completed. Of course I'll have "Soul Mates" to work on again then, as well.
Busy, busy, busy: just how I like it.
